GeoSilica Tournament Celebrates Its 10th Year!
At GeoSilica, we are proud sponsors of Keflavík Women’s Football. The GeoSilica Tournament is held annually for girls in the club’s youth divisions, and we always aim to make the day a memorable experience for everyone taking part. At the end of the tournament, each player receives a gift from GeoSilica as a symbol of participation and team spirit.
This year’s gift was extra special – the girls received custom-designed solar eclipse glasses. 🌒✨
A solar eclipse reminds us that even when the light is temporarily hidden, it is always still there. It is a fitting symbol for sport: sometimes we face challenges, lose a game or have to work harder, but through teamwork, perseverance and self-confidence, we can shine again.
The next total solar eclipse visible from Iceland will take place on Wednesday, 12 August 2026. It will be a truly unique event and the first total solar eclipse visible from Icelandic land since 1954 – more than 70 years ago!
All proceeds from the sale of the glasses go towards educational initiatives for children and adults about the solar eclipse and the importance of viewing it safely.
